MODERN
STATUS: the valid, the oldest name for a taxon which is most probaly
holophyletic. |
|
COMMENT. Originally (Haeckel 1874), the name "Haemataria" was connected with a statement that these animals primarily have a body cavity filled with liquid (either blood or coelomic liquid); the other name - "Pentablasteria" was connected with a statement that they primarily have 5 embryonic cell layers. Probably, the both characters are wrong, being not initial for this taxon. But holophyly of this taxon is supported by a real autapomorphy - initial presence of anus. The name Haemataria is the oldest one and, thus, should be used as valid one, in spite of the fact that id does not reflect true character. |
